Violence Survivor Advocate

Part-time

A frontline support role helping survivors access safety, advocacy, crisis response, and practical resources across shelter and hotline services.

Role summary

Under the direction of the Program Support Manager, the Survivor Advocate provides safety, support, advocacy, resources, and communication to guests in shelter as well as callers and texters to the crisis hotline. This role is critical to ensuring best-case outcomes in crisis circumstances and situations. It requires communication, critical thinking, problem solving, multi-tasking, and de-escalation skills while working with minimal supervision.

Key responsibilities

  • Answer the crisis call line and texting line and complete all necessary documentation in a timely manner.
  • Assist the Program Support Manager with projects, staff meetings, and required trainings.
  • Advocate for the safety of PAVE's program, facility, clients, guests, volunteers, and staff.
  • Adhere to agency policies including client confidentiality, professional boundaries, and required reporting.
  • Provide accurate information and referrals to community resources.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment in the facility, including basic housekeeping while on shift.
  • Prepare accommodations for incoming clients, sanitize rooms after exits, and stock shared spaces and supplies as needed.
  • Communicate essential information to colleagues and consult with the Lead Team through appropriate private channels.
  • Prioritize tasks by urgency, importance, and role while remaining flexible in crisis situations.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Program Support Manager, Lead Team, and Directors.
  • Monday to Thursday: 3:45pm to 10:00pm
  • Friday: 8:00am to 4:00pm
  • Saturdays
  • Sundays
  • Overnights
  • Part-time position including nights, weekends, overnights Friday through Sunday, and holidays
  • Holiday pay at 1.5x
  • Flexible schedule is necessary
  • Pay: $16.00 per hour

Hired staff must pass a background check. This position requires fingerprinting for candidates who are offered the role.
