Violence Survivor Advocate

Job Description

Under the direction of the Program Support Manager, the Survivor Advocate provides safety, support, advocacy, resources, and communication to guests in shelter as well as callers and texters to the crisis hotline. This role is critical to ensuring best-case outcomes in crisis circumstances and situations. This role requires a high level of communication, critical thinking, problem solving, multi-tasking, and de-escalation skills, while requiring minimal supervision.

Job Duties

  • Answer the crisis call line and texting line; complete all necessary documentation in a timely period.
  • Assist Program Support Manager with projects.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
  • Advocate for safety of PAVE's program, facility, clients, guests, volunteers, and staff.
  • Adhere to agency policies including client confidentiality and reporting.
  • Maintain professional boundaries with all clients.
  • Provide appropriate and accurate information and referrals to community resources.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment in the facility, including cleaning and basic housekeeping of the shelter while on shift.
  • Communicate with colleagues, especially relaying essential information to the worker relieving you from duty.
  • Prepare accommodations for incoming clients, sanitize and clean rooms after exits, stock, organize food, hygiene and other items as needed or directed, including reception area, intake room and bathroom, group rooms, community spaces, emergency lodging, and havens.
  • Consult with Lead Team through appropriate, private channels such as Teams.
  • Prioritize tasks by urgency, importance, and role; be flexible.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by Program Support Manager, Lead Team, and Directors.

Hours Available

  • Monday to Thursday: 3:45pm to 10:00pm
  • Friday: 8:00am to 4:00pm
  • Saturdays
  • Sundays
  • Overnights

Position Details

  • Part-time position including nights, weekends, overnights Friday through Sunday, and holidays.
  • Holiday pay at 1.5x.
  • Flexible schedule is necessary.
  • Pay: $16.00 per hour.

Background check required

Hired staff must pass a background check. This position requires a fingerprinting background check for candidates who are offered the position.
